Grand Assembly 2007

"Chasing Your Dreams" Session

The 65th Pennsylvania Grand Assembly was held at the Jaffa Shrine in Altoona from July 17 to 22, 2007. The Grand Assembly room was decorated with sparkling dolphins, a lighthouse, a treasure chest and seaweed entrance ways with fish and bubbles.

Wednesday evening, Sister Sue-Ellen Coleman and the Grand Officers, Usherettes and Representatives dazzled the crowd with their drills. We welcomed many distinguished guests who brought greetings from their organizations and/or states. It was a special honor to welcome Mrs. Marie Renda, Supreme Worthy Advisor.

Mrs. Renda, SWA, announced the appointment of Mrs. Helen Snedden as Acting Supreme Deputy for Pennsylvania Rainbow.

Thursday was a day filled with excitement and fun; but there was some sadness too. Thursday morning, after ritualistic opening, a memorial service was held for Sister Kelley Delaney who passed away unexpectedly. Kelley was to be the GWA Personal Page.

Balloting was exemplified and many reports were given.

Miss Barbara Carson, Supreme Liasion, announced the Grand Worthy Advisor for 2007-2008, Sister Leandra Logan. Sister Leandra then announced the Grand Officers for 2007-2008.

Many awards were presented throughout Grand Assembly. For a complete list, click here.

Friday morning was initiation. We were pleased to welcome Kelly Johnson from Moshannon Valley #131. The majority service was held by Mrs. Barbara Johnson, Grand Deputy. Ten girls received their majority.

Friday afternoon was the Grand Cross of Color Investiture and Luncheon. Please click here for officers and pictures.

Installation of Grand Officers was held Friday evening. Sister Leandra Logan was installed as Grand Worthy Advisor.

Saturday was the FUN day. We held all our competitions in bowling, choir, drill, scrapbooks and progress charts during the day. In the evening was our Pennsylvania Coronation program, with talent provided by our Rainbow girls. Miss Maggie Muir was organized and narrated the event.

Sunday morning we gathered together for a church service led by Reverend Wayne Meyer.
